Solar Kp Index

The Kp index measures the global geomagnetic activity of the Earth caused by solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field disturbances. It ranges from 0 to 9, where 0 indicates very quiet geomagnetic conditions and 9 indicates a severe geomagnetic storm.
It is calculated every 3 hours by averaging measurements from multiple magnetometer stations around the world, then converted into a quasi-logarithmic scale. High Kp values are associated with auroras and can affect satellites, radio communications, and power grids.
